Arc Studio’s powerful features and intuitive design make it the perfect tool for teaching screenwriting in the classroom

Classroom Management and Assignment Tools

Instructors and administrators can easily onboard students and manage the classroom by adding a list of email addresses through a central portal.

Assignments and screenwriting exercises can be created by instructors in Arc Studio Classroom, complete with explanatory notes, outlines, and pre-written scenes. Individual copies of the assignment can be sent to all your students with the click of a button.

The instructor will automatically added as a collaborator to each assignment for feedback and oversight, and the students’ assignments will be organized in a single project folder in the instructor’s app.

Collaboration Made Easy

With Arc Studio Classroom, collaboration is as easy as Google Docs. Students can collaborate in real time with each other, or with their instructors, at home or live in the classroom.

Instructors can supervise their students’ work and comment directly on the script. Custom tags make it easy to sort and find feedback.

Instructors can review how changes were made and notes were addressed through the draft history.

Outlining and Templates

Each script in Arc Studio Classroom has a “Plot board” where teachers and students can collaborate on visually outlining the story.

Teachers can scaffold their students’ work via outlining templates to learn story structure and notes templates for worksheets and character sheets.

A Modern Writing Tool

While other screenwriting software feels like it was made in the ‘90s, Arc Studio Classroom is a modern tool that will feel familiar to your students.

Its cloud-based approach means you and your students can work on the computer, iPhone, or iPad with your work automatically syncing between all your devices.

Its intuitive interface, real-time collaboration, and distraction-free design make it perfect for learning, and its advanced features allow for more nuanced instruction as students advance. The cloud-based system ensures easy access, making feedback and revisions seamless. Highly recommended for educators and professional collaborators alike!”

“For the last year I've been using Arc Studio with my students, and I’ve found it to be a versatile and easy-to-use screenwriting software. The most useful feature has been the ability to share screenplays with other users, allowing multiple students to collaborate on group projects, and to share their work in media directly with their classroom teachers. It also allows me to see their progress, offer assistance in real time, and make notes for them on their work. It's easy for students to be logged into their accounts on multiple devices, meaning they can work on their screenplays on their school laptops as well as on their personal computers at home. The ability to have multiple drafts within each project is great, as I can compare the different iterations a screenplay has gone through and see the students’ development as writers.
For students, the built-in keyboard shortcuts to change between different parts of screenplay structure have been easy and intuitive to learn, and the pictograms help students who are just starting to understand screenplay formatting. Whenever I've had a software issue I've been able to quickly get in touch with an actual human being at Arc Studios and get it sorted out, resulting in a user friendly and stress-free experience for me and my students. If you have students studying film, I would definitely recommend Arc Studios for screenwriting.”

“Arc Studio is the perfect screenwriting software for us at UCA to use in the classroom. Novice writers can quickly and easily create work that is formatted to an industry standard with just a quick introduction to the software. It’s also great that we are able to explore some of the more advanced functions like the Plot Board with students who have some experience with screenwriting to assist them in further developing their ideas.
In addition, the fact that Arc Studio has a browser-based option means that when students forget their laptops in class the progress on a project doesn’t have to stop and they can easily access their work on other devices.”
Ted Wilkes
Senior Lecturer in Screenwriting,
University for the Creative Arts
“Using Arc Studio in my Creative Writing class permits my 7th and 8th grade students to focus on development– bringing their stories and characters to life--instead of getting bogged down by formatting. The drop-down menu is easy to navigate, and the ability for student collaboration provides flexibility to work in pairs or groups as well as allowing me to give specific, immediate feedback during the writing process. Arc Studio is a game-changer!”
